Course Overview

The Bachelor in Optometry (BOM) program at BPR College of Allied Health Science, Vellore, is a 4-year undergraduate course (3 years of academic learning + 1-year internship) designed to train students in the science of vision care, eye health, and optical management.
This program provides comprehensive education in optics, ocular anatomy, visual science, contact lens technology, and clinical optometry. Students learn to examine, diagnose, and manage visual disorders, as well as prescribe corrective lenses and assist ophthalmologists in eye care and surgical procedures.
Through hands-on training and clinical internships in reputed eye hospitals and vision care centers, students gain the practical expertise and patient interaction skills necessary to become competent optometrists — playing a key role in promoting better vision and eye health in the community.
