Course Overview

The Bachelor in Anaesthesia Technology (BAT) program at BPR College of Allied Health Science, Vellore, is a 4-year undergraduate course (3 years academic + 1-year internship) designed to prepare students to assist anaesthesiologists in surgical and critical care procedures.
The course provides comprehensive training in anaesthetic procedures, equipment management, patient monitoring, and pre- and post-operative care. Students learn to handle anaesthesia machines, manage airways, monitor vital signs, and ensure patient safety during surgical interventions.
Through practical exposure in operation theatres and intensive care units, students gain hands-on experience under expert supervision, making them competent and confident anaesthesia technologists who play a vital role in surgical and emergency medical teams.

Program Educational Objectives (PEO)

Graduates of the BAT program will be able to

  • Assist anaesthesiologists and surgeons during surgical, obstetric, and emergency procedures.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate anaesthesia machines and patient monitoring systems effectively.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort before, during, and after anaesthetic administration.
  • Demonstrate ethical conduct, teamwork, and professional integrity in clinical environments.
  • Pursue advanced education or specialization in anaesthesia care, critical care, or operation theatre management.
